If you’re new around here, I love capsule wardrobes. Over the past year, I’ve been helping you build seasonal capsule wardrobes. I’ve looked for quality pieces that work all year long. I do love a capsule wardrobe. This season, I’m loving the trends.
Classics are a big trend in fall fashion. On the runways this season, we saw many quality pieces layered with trench coats and perfectly tailored denim.
We definitely saw prints, unique silhouettes, and 2010s style. Staples like kitten heels and off-the-shoulder tops have been reimagined for the new generation. (If you need a headstart on this trend for fall 2023, read this guide!)

Red: The Color of Fall
The designers have spoken and the color of fall 2023 is red. This fall expect to see bright red taking up your feeds, dominating your workspaces, and classically entering date night. This hue is definitely bold!

A tall boot is any fashion girlie’s essential for fall. Pair it with a skirt or skinny jeans.
You’ll be pulling these boots out for the rest of the year, trust me!
Sweater Season
Fall is definitely sweater season. On the runways this season, we’ve seen chunky knit sweaters paired with comfy staples like boots, leggings, and winter scarves. We’re going cozy this season. Cozy with classics.
Turtleneck Sweater Mini Dress
My take on this fall trend is with a gorgeous turtleneck mini dress. This pairs beautifully with the red boots I’ve just shared, and it layers well with tights and a coat for colder days.

More and more, we’ve been seeing preppy classics come into fall. Items like this never go out of style. And simply mentioning “preppy classics” brings only one brand to mind: Ralph Lauren. They’ve created an iconic brand you simply can’t go wrong with.
Cable-Knit Cricket Sweater
I love this cable knit sweater that pairs with jeans, boots, and other staples for fall. A perfect layering piece, this sweater is a classy fall staple! I love the color, fit, and style of this piece.
Smooth Satin
This season runways brought us witchy styles straight out of Wednesday Adam’s closet. Each designer pulled out the satin, lace, and black velvet. My favorite was satin. There’s a trend of ‘workwear’ fashion that I’m seeing this fall – and alongside satin, you can really create some classic and gorgeous looks.
Dani Blouse
My take on this trend: the Dani Blouse.
This blouse is a fall essential you’re going to fall in love with. The fit and color are perfect – plus it’s one of the easiest styles to layer. Picture this blouse with a unique denim or leather trench coat (keep reading!)
Working Girl
There’s a mood board this fall of understated and classic office looks, from pencil skirts to button-down shirts and oversized suits.
The Classic Shirt
Called a classic for a reason – this shirt is a staple of every season. Layer with a blazer or pair with over-the-knee boots with skinny jeans this fall.
Everyday Fall Denim
Speaking of skinny jeans, let’s talk about denim for fall. Denim is a great fabric for fall. It’s a versatile classic. We are seeing denim as a fall fashion trend of 2023 in many forms, I’ve searched high and low for a piece you’re going to love.

With a belted waist, you can wear this as a classic denim trench coat or chic maxi dress for fall. Layer with tights, boots, or a classic sneaker for a great look all season long.
Power Suiting
I touched on the ‘working girl’ for fall. This trend was pronounced on the runways. Power suits from every designer were present. From Prada to Givenchy, this season is begging you to pull out your shoulder pads and I’ve found the perfect power suit for you.
Siena Straight Italian Wool Pant
This wool suit might not have the drama we saw on the runways. It is definitely a classic piece.
The ultimate goal of creating a classic wardrobe is to find pieces that can work with trends. This suit is exactly that.
Leather in Classic Form
I spoke at the beginning of this post about how we saw classic staples across the runways – with quality being the focus of creating a capsule wardrobe for fall. Do this by implementing classic fabrics. Like leather.

There were definitely many trench coats walking down the runways this fall. I knew I had to include a few in this post. This faux leather trench coat is gorgeous and layers well with sweater dresses and your favorite boots of the season.

This is one of the styles we’re seeing make its comeback this fall. I personally love a kitten heel, it’s a perfect shoe for taller women.

You definitely can’t go wrong with the perfect T-shirt, blazer, button-down, and straight-leg trousers. I am constantly looking to share the best basics. I’m thrilled to see these staples trending this year!

A crewneck you’re going to want in every color! I love that this top comes in tall and petite styles (You know I’m always looking for brands for tall girlies!) Go back to basics with this perfect style.
