In this post, I am sharing my spring wardrobe essentials. If you’re ready for a closet refresh or need inspiration for cute spring outfits, this guide will have it all.
Spring is one of my favorite seasons in New York, but it’s not the easiest to dress for. Some days are sunny and beautiful, while others make it feel like winter will never end. And some days that have a bit of both. There can be a lot of sun, rain, and wind – which can make it complicated to plan your outfits.
However, with the right essentials, you’ll be prepared for anything. This is my motto for every season – and it’s why I’m determined to help you design your ultimate classic capsule wardrobe. A capsule wardrobe is a curated collection of items that help you look your best every day.
I’ve put together the ultimate checklist for your own capsule wardrobe, so if you’re ready for a fashion overhaul this year, make sure to download the checklist (it’s free!).
Now, whether you’re shopping for something new, or just looking for inspiration, let’s dive into my spring wardrobe essentials for 2025.

Spring Wardobe Essentials You Need This Year
Classic Trench Coat
If there’s one thing I love about New York fashion, it’s trench coats.

Each spring you see women and men across the city pull out their most stylish trench coats. It’s easy to see why this is essential for your spring wardrobe. Waterproof, wind resistant, warm (but not too warm) and stylish. A trench coat will go with everything in your closet.
Plus this classic trench coat from Abercrombie & Fitch will fit anyone’s budget – and it looks great on us tall girls.
White Button Down Shirt
Spring fashion is all about layering, which is why oversized shirts like this one work so well.

This top also works well with coats for cold days, blazers, and tank tops, making it a definite spring wardrobe essential. I love to style a plain white shirt with slacks and a blazer or jeans, depending on my plans for the day. If you don’t already have a trusted white button-down in your wardrobe, shop my favorite this season.
Black Blazer
A black blazer is definitely a spring staple, and this fitted option from Mango offers just the right balance, structure, and style.

With its sleek silhouette and sharp lapels, it will elevate any outfit, whether you pair it with matching trousers or your favorite slip dress.
I like a fitted cut, which makes this blazer more office-friendly. However, I can still pair it with jeans for a weekend around town. Plus, it’s made of lightweight fabric that’s perfect for spring.
Levi 501® ’90s Women’s Jeans
These jeans are a timeless staple that will never go out of style.

If you’re looking for relaxed, vintage denim this season, make sure to shop these 90s-inspired women’s jeans from Levis. They’ve been designed to fit slightly looser through the hips and thighs, offering a more laid-back and lived-in feel. This style pairs perfectly with casual tops and classic button-downs.
And, because they’re Levi, you know they’re going to last a lifetime. With added length options, they work for tall and short girls.
Satin Midi Skirt
I saw satin skirts really come into style last year and now that they’re here, they’re not going anywhere, anytime soon.

I love this satin midi skirt style from Abercrombie & Fitch. It’s the perfect length for spring – and can be styled with a blouse and heels, or sneakers and a t-shirt for a more laid-back feel. It offers effortless elegance with a modern edge.
I also love how the smooth, flowing fabric drapes beautifully, catching the light with every step for a subtly luxe feel (quiet luxury will never go out of style around here!).
Merino Wool Slim Ribbed Crew Sweater
Sweaters are going to be your best friend this spring.

And merino wool is the perfect fabric for helping regulate your body around the crazy spring temperatures. This sweater is both lightweight and cozy. It’s the perfect transitional piece for spring.
I’ve always loved merino wool for being both breathable and lightweight, the perfect choice for layering. Plus its slim, ribbed design is ultra-flattering, no matter what you wear it with. Personally, I think this sweater would look so good paired with my favorite denim right now.
Kanika Flats
The Kanika Flats from Dolce Vida are the perfect blend of comfort and sophistication, making them a must-have for your spring wardrobe.

They’re made from soft suede which helps them offer a luxe feel while maintaining a chic and casual vibe. The sleek pointed toe adds a polished touch, while the wide fit ensures all-day comfort.
These flats will go with every spring look you put together this year. A true go-to shoe for the season.
Denim Jacket
Levis is my trusted brand for anything denim – and this 90s-inspired trucker jacket is my favorite.

This is truly a timeless jack that brings effortless cool to any spring outfit. It’s slightly oversized and vintage-inspired captures that ‘lived-in’ feel that you can only really get with Levis.
The soft, broken-in denim which means it’s a lot more comfortable than most denim jackets. And it’s perfect for throwing over a sundress or pairing it with jeans for a classic double-denim look. Whether you’re running errands or headed to brunch with the girls, this jacket is a must-have spring essential for your wardrobe.
Spring Dress
One thing that I love about spring is dresses!

I don’t wear a lot of dresses in the winter, because winters here in New York are cold. However, when the city starts thawing… I pull all of my dresses out!
This spring is all about moody floral (read this post!) and this dress is my new favorite. It might feel like you’re overdressed… but I am bringing my best-dressed energy into 2025 and I think you should do the same. I love this for a date night – or dinner with the girls.
It’s so flattering and perfectly on-trend. If you’re looking for something new this spring – moody floral will be your best friend.
Tailored Trousers
I have officially found the most flattering pair of tailored trousers.

They’re the perfect mix of structure and flow and they’re definitely a spring wardrobe essential. Designed with a high waist and sleek, tailored fit through the hips. These pants elongate your legs while maintaining a wide-leg silhouette.
Whether dressed up with heels or kept casual with sneakers, these tailored trousers bring effortless chic to any outfit.
OG Sambas
If you don’t already have a pair of OG Sambas, let this be your sign!

They are my favorite pair of sneakers – and they’re very on-trend right now. Sambas never go out of style. While I personally could own a pair of Sambas in every color, I recommend getting a neutral pair that will go with everything in your closet this spring. While I love a pop of color, I find that it’s important to have your basics in neutral so you never run out of outfit pairings.
DeMellier Tote Bag
The New York from DeMellier is the epitome of understated ‘quiet’ luxury.

It’s a combination of sleek design with everyday functionality. It’s made from supple, small-grain leather and has a structure, yet soft silhouette. The spacious interior is perfect for carrying all of your daily essentials, whether you’re heading into the office, running errands, or traveling.
Lightweight Scarf
A capsule wardrobe should always include accessories that showcase your personality and personal style.

That’s why I added this gorgeous lightweight scarf to my spring capsule. Whether you want an accessory to pull your outfit together, or a scarf to tie back your hair, this H&M lightweight scarf is a spring staple!
Geometric Cat Eye Sunglasses
These Coach sunglasses add a bold and sophisticated touch to your spring wardrobe.

I love their sharp angles and oversized frames. I’m always on the lookout for cute new sunglasses – and when I saw these, I knew they would become a staple in my wardrobe.
Spring Nail Color
Essie has announced their spring 2025 collection and this is my favorite color from the collection!

It’s a white that almost always looks iridescent as opposed to flat (which is how most white nail polishes look). This makes sure that it catches the subtle hints of color in all of your spring looks.
