In this guide, I will explore the new Essie 2024 Winter Collection: Odd Squad. I’ve fallen in love with every collection that Essie has shared with us this year and Odd Squad is no exception. For this winter collection, they’ve chosen to focus on bright, fun colors that will breathe new life into gloomy winter days.
Let’s dive into the colors of winter with Essie’s Odd Squad.
The bright colors of fall always seem to fly by, leaving us with the whites and grays of winter. This year, that’s where Essie comes in! They’ve released their Winter 2024 collection and it is full of color.
I love fall in New York, but winter is one of those seasons I tend to struggle through. The shorter, darker, and colder days make the entire season feel like it’s dragging by. I love that Essie brought us a winter collection packed with color to help us get through this winter.
In a recent post, I shared Essie’s Fall 2024 Collection: Punk at Heart. If you’re not ready to say goodbye to fall yet, make sure to read that post next.
Now, let’s prep for a winter home manicure with Essie.

Essie Winter 2024 Nail Polish Collection

For this winter’s manicure inspiration, I’m showcasing the new Essie Winter 2024 Collection: Odd Squad. This collection is just what it sounds like… odd. It’s a collection of colors that I wouldn’t normally pick out for winter – and it’s going to brighten up this season.
As usual, Essie has released six new colors based on the latest trends and predictions for Winter 2024.
The new colors are called:
With this collection, Essie has gone rogue! I love that they’ve picked ‘odd’ colors that I wouldn’t normally select for a winter collection. They’ve gone for something different and I love it!
Let’s dive into each of these new colors from Essie’s Winter 2024 Collection.
Odd Squad
Odd Squad is a rich coffee-brown polish with red undertones.

It’s the first color and namesake of this collection. They’re kicking it off with a rich brown that I would almost associate more with fall. It’s a great transitional color and since we’ve been seeing more brown this year, this color is sure to be a classic.
Never Basic
Never Basic is a muted, soft coral polish with red and neutral undertones.

It’s a shade I would associate with summer – and because of that, it’s bringing new energy to winter this year. In the winter months, we tend to wear a lot more black, gray, and white. Use Never Basic to bring a pop of color to your routine this winter.
Offbeat Chic
Offbeat Chic is a vibrant cyan-blue polish with yellow undertones.

Pulled right off the shelves of spring, this bright polish is one of my favorites from this collection. It’s so clearly the opposite of the rich, jewel-tone blues you’d expect at this time of year.
Not a Phase
Not a Phase is a rich crimson polish with yellow undertones.

It’s the most ‘typically’ winter color in this collection, mainly because of the holiday season. What I love is that they’ve gone with a rich but bright red, once again avoiding the deep jewel tones that we associate with winter.
In Essie’s own words, this color should inspire you to be yourself and have fun!
Perfectly Peculiar
Perfectly Peculiar is a bright minty green polish with blue undertones.

This color is by far the most vibrant of this Essie 2024 Winter Collection. It’s bringing spring energy and summer vibrance into short winter days. Something perfectly peculiar for this time of year. This color encourages you to go bold.
Mismatch to Match
Lastly, we have Mismatch to Match.

A warm raisin taupe polish with red and brown undertones. They’re rounding out this winter collection with a neutral shade that looks good on everyone. This color is perfect for mixing and matching or creating your own unique home manicure.
What I would really love is to see several of these colors used together to create a home manicure that’s truly as unique as this collection from Essie.
How to Protect Your Nails This Winter
Winter can be harsh for your hair, skin, and nails. The cold weather makes everything more brittle and the lack of sunshine can mean you’re not getting the vitamin D that your skin needs. You can combat this with a few additional steps to your Essie home manicure this winter.
Strong Start Base Coat
Because your nails are a bit weaker this time of year, make sure to start every manicure with the Stong Start base coat.

This polish is infused with biotin that works hard to reinforce and harden your nails. Not only will this help with breakage, but it also helps your nails hold color longer.
Stay Longer Premium Top Coat
One way to protect your home manicure this winter is with a premium top coat.

This one from Essie keeps your color smooth, bright, and shiny all while protecting against chips for up to 7 days. When you protect your nails longer, it means you don’t have to worry about doing them as much, which in turn, will protect them! It’s a good cycle to be in.
On a Roll Apricot Nail & Cuticle Oil
This roll-on nail and cuticle oil is going to become your new best friend this winter.

It’s a mess-free cuticle oil that offers easy on-the-go hydration to condition both your nails and cuticles. When winter starts to dry your skin and nails out, this oil will rejuvenate your manicure! If you only shop one product from today’s guide, make sure it’s this bestselling oil from Essie.
What do you think of Essie’s new winter collection? I love how unique they’ve gone with their colors. They’re truly encouraging us to be ourselves this winter.
