2024 Beauty and Makeup Trends

Happy New Year girlies! Today, I want to explore the hottest beauty and makeup trends that I predict will blow up in 2024. I always love diving into the new year with a little reinvention. New Year’s are full of new opportunities – not to sound too cliche! But that’s what I look forward to the most. And with reinvention comes a new chance to play around with your style and routine.

From simpler makeup routines to pops of colors and gothic vibes, let’s explore the beauty and makeup trends for 2024. I’m sure there’s going to be something for everyone here.

2024 Beauty and Makeup Trends

1. Peach Blush

I have to thank Pantone for this one! They’ve named Peach Fuzz their 2024 color of the year, and like always, we’re definitely going to see that reflected in our makeup. I’ve already seen Peach Fuzz popping up in subtle blushes and eyes. It’s a beautiful color and luckily, anyone can put a peach blush on and look fantastic! Peach is a great blush for all skin types.

2. Natural Skin

Glowing natural skin has been a growing trend for years now, but I believe we’re really going to see this trend more in 2024 as people search for more ‘real’ life online. More and more influencers and online personalities are moving away from the ‘highlight’ reel and more into personal connections and ‘real-life’ moments. We’ll of course see this reflected in our makeup routines. 

People everywhere are pushing away from the glammed-up look and searching instead for glowing but natural skin.

3. Vibrant Pops of Color

For the past couple of years I’ve been predicting more pops of color in our wardrobes and nails, but this year we’re going to see it everywhere in our makeup as well. All down the Spring runways blues, purples and greens were having their moments. 

You can add color to your lips, cheeks, or eyes with eyeliner, shadow, and mascara. Just remember that the color is the first thing people are going to notice – so pick a feature you really want to highlight.

4. Monochromatic Makeup

If you’ve spent any time on TikTok in the last couple of months, you might have heard terms like ‘strawberry girl’, ‘pumpkin spice’, and ‘latte makeup’. These are all examples of monochromatic makeup trends. 

What we’re really going to see are more multi-use products and a revival of single-color palettes. This sticks with the trend that I’m seeing a lot of which is that people want a simpler and more natural beauty routine.

5. Beautiful Blues

Alongside peaches and pinks, get ready to see a myriad of beautiful blue shades. I love blue because it goes with all eye colors. It obviously makes blue eyes pop, but it also looks stunning on brown eyes and pulls the blue tones out of hazel eyes. I’ve been seeing blue being worn in colored mascara (throwback to the early 2000s!), liner, and eyeshadow.

6. Body Skincare Routine

We’re looking beyond our faces for routines that care for all of our skin. On Pinterest alone, the search term “body skincare routine” is up by 1,000%! What does that mean for our beauty trends in 2024? Think more body serums, creams, and overall routines that target the skin below your neck.

7. Girly Vibes

This year you can expect a lot of feminine energy. And I am here for it. 

This is one of my favorite emerging trends and it comes on the coattails of Barbie. With this trend, I expect there to be a lot of rosy cheeks, glossy lips, and feathered eyebrows. What I love about a trend like this is that it works for all women. You can play it up with long, doll lashes or play it down with the perfect plush and lip gloss combo.

8. Grunge Look

Lastly, I want to share a trend that goes against everything I’ve been saying so far. Throughout this post, I’ve been sharing how we’re moving towards more natural looks but there is still a trend out there for us girlies who love playing around with bold, dark makeup. Grunge is BACK. 

Throughout this year I’ve been seeing a lot of looks from the 90s come back. From RomCom fashion to Grunge Makeup, let’s bring back (and perfect) the best looks of the 90s. One thing that you will notice with the Grunge beauty trend is that it’s modernized, more colorful, and still a bit softer than the deep blacks and thick eyeliner. 

Think smudged eyeliner and softly applied solid eyeshadow. This trend has so much room for experimentation!

There you have it! Those are my top eight predictions for makeup and beauty trends of 2024. I’m excited for the new year and the new chance to reinvent myself through fashion and makeup.
